About Us

Founded in Southern Ontario, Balzac’s Coffee Roasters has been micro-roasting the finest selection of Arabica beans from around the globe since 1991. Each of our varietals is carefully selected and roasted to preserve and enhance its uniquely inherent qualities. We strive to create a superb and complex taste experience. Our artisanal, micro-batch roasting techniques ensure that our beans get from the roaster to the consumer without the quality degradation that larger automated and continuous-feed technologies result in. Our beans are sent out to our cafes or customers as ordered, with no boxing, shelving, warehousing, storing or distribution steps that severely compromise the resulting taste of fresh roasted coffee. Balzac’s founder, Diana Olsen, oversees her small staff of highly trained roasters and has created her own proprietary blends, including Balzac’s Blend, our most popular, which was inspired by a recipe belonging to the company’s namesake himself, Monsieur Honore de Balzac.
